Some people complain that pressing Enter in a text field in Formmail causes the form to be submitted prematurely. The following bit of Javascript on text fields turns Enter into Tab: |
| Free Bulletin Board (Forum)? |
Can one install phpBB bulletin board / forum free of charge, or does Green Net offer a free bulletin board / forum? Alternatively, can anyone recommend a good bulletin board / forum? Thanks in advance |
| googlebots |
my email is currently out of action :( i.e. mathaba1@... or mathaba@... nothing you can do about it. meanwhile i post here in case you can read this and respond.... where are we on the googlebot (more accurately googlenewsbot in my case) situation? did you receive e-mails from me today pointing out what the problem is? i have not been informed what the problem in the night was, nor been shown any graph for past 24 hours, which would be helpful. please post a message here on the forum if possible, i am assuming you get a notification of new contact, if not a forwarded email. that way i can get a reply while my email service is also being restored. thanks |

| Logs: "Visits" and "Sites" |
I thought I had understood the definitions but I can't understand how the number of sites - presumably the places visitors come from - can be greater than the number of visits. This appears to be the case in many of the daily reports but not in the monthly summaries. I have looked at several other people's logs and the pattern seems similar. Stupid question? |
| Mambo CMS |
This space is for sharing experiences of Mambo and other PHP content-management software. There are some permissions changes that we need to do according to the Mambo instructions before installation is possible, but there can also be other problems and bugs in Mambo. |
| Mambo Help |
We are looking for help setting up a site with the Mambo CMS at http://www.thepspmag.com. No one on our staff is experienced in this program, and would like to find someone who is interested in becoming involved in the project. PSP Mag is non profit, and anyone who is willing to help would be greatly appreciated. Please email me (sledge@thepspmag.com) if you can help. Jeff |
| On-line donations |
We, at the Mines and Communities website (www.minesandcommunities.org) are putting up a page for donations. Obviously we can give details of our bank account & address etc. for people that want to make bank payments or write cheques - but it would be excellent if people could link to some sort of instant, secure payment system. The problem is I doubt we'll get enough credit cards to become a credit card vendor. I have approached GreenNet and they don't offer any sort of proxy credit card service (although they mentioned Paypal - but had heard people are not always happy with it & it is commercial). I was wondering if GreenNet users are aware, of any UK-based donation acceptance programmes/organisations for charities (as it may well be cheaper & more convenient for us). Thanks in advance. |
| putting mp3's on websites and getting them to work |
Does anyone there know how to put MP3 files on a website so that those who log in can cause them to play? I want this for teaching purposes, where a short file is enough to do the job. Does anyone know how to put them on and make them available for download? These would be full-length jobs opf anything up to 4.5megs. Am I being impractical? I am not talking about illegal downloads here because I am the copyright-holder and a member of PRS etc., who have been encouraging us all to do this. I suppose the plan is that once we all get on top of the technology they will then start wanting to do something about royalties, although at present it looks a bit difficult. I am trying eventually to have a few chargeable MP3s for download by using a secure transfer system. Yours HH |
