Power failure Friday 14/11/2008 and Saturday 15/11/2008

Friday night the co-location center we host our servers in was hit by a power failure. After the power supply was restored our engineers restored most services through the night and early hours of Saturday morning.

A second power failure hit the co-location center Saturday afternoon. We have managed to restore all services by 6pm Saturday.

We apologise for the inconvenience.

Domain Registry of America Scam

Have you just received a letter in the post from ‘Domain Registry of America’ (DRoA), urging you to pay them for renewing your domain name? The paper, with a London address on the back, looks like a bill and tries to scare the reader with “Your registration will expire on May 10, 2005. Act today!”

Don’t worry about your domain, this is a scam!

Email server unavailability Sunday 27 July 08

Our email server is back online after failing early Sunday morning. You may have been unable to send or receive email, and may also find your email software downloads duplicates of messages saved on the server, but no emails were lost and all mailboxes were fully restored. Apologies for the inconvenience.

Scam email Saturday 19 July

If you have received an email this morning claiming to be from “gn.apc.org System Team” (Admin), please just delete it and do not attempt to reply or forward it. We are aware of this “ phishing “ scam and are taking appropriate action with other ISPs/institutions. We generally mark such fraudulent emails as spam, but unfortunately this one slipped through. Needless to say, we never ask for passwords via email.

Scheduled downtime Saturday 16th August

We will be moving the GreenNet servers in the small hours of Saturday morning 16th August between 12 midnight and 3am (BST). During this time your incoming email will be queued, and all GreenNet-hosted websites will be unobtainable. We will try to keep disruption to a minimum. Apologies for the inconvenience.

Also note that a scam gang impersonating GreenNet is active again. Please do not reply to any email claiming to be from ‘gn.apc.org message centre’ and asking for passwords.
