Setting up Eudora is easy if you have the right information. Everything you need is in the document we sent you, and some of it is included here on the website. Once you have it all, you are ready to set up Eudora.

ISSUE:

How do I set up Eudora to check and send email?

OR

I just changed Internet Service Providers and now need to change Eudora to check and send differently. How do I change my settings?

Download the latest version of Eudora for free from: http://www.eudora.com/download/

SOLUTION:

Follow these simple steps, and use the details below fill in what you need within Eudora’s email setup, and save it for future reference.

  • Your POP or mail server: pop.gn.apc.org
  • Your SMTP or outgoing mail server: smtp.gn.apc.org
  • Your email login name: <loginname>@gn.apc.org
  • Your email address: <youralias>@yourdomain.org (if you only have a GreenNet mailbox then it is also <loginname>@gn.apc.org)

Now you are ready to get started!

In Eudora, go to the Tools menu and select OPTIONS.

Step 1.

In the Options window, you will see several icons on the left. Select GETTING STARTED (circled in red).

Step 2.

In the REAL NAME field, type your name the way you would like people to see it when they get email from you. For example, Bradley Close.

Step 3.

In the RETURN ADDRESS field, enter your email address. For example: bradleyclose@gn.apc.org.

Step 4.

In the MAIL SERVER (INCOMING) field, enter the POP or mail server that was given to you by GreenNet (pop.gn.apc.org).

Step 5.

In the LOGIN NAME field, enter your login name as it appears in your GreenNet email address (<loginname>@gn.apc.org – not your alias address).

Step 6.

In the SMTP SERVER (OUTGOING) field, enter the SMTP or Outgoing mail server that was given to you by GreenNet (smtp.gn.apc.org).

Step 7.

There should be a check in the ALLOW AUTHENTICATION field. Leave the check there. If you do not see a check in the box, click on the box with your mouse until a check appears.

Step 8.

Click OK. This completes the basic setup – you should now be able to send and receive email in Eudora.
