Kmail is an email client that comes as part of the KDE desktop environment on Linux, in for example Kubuntu. There are a few default options on kmail that should be changed.

GreenNet uses an effective anti-spam method called greylisting. Occasionally it may cause delays or even bounces emailing someone at GreenNet. However, in most cases this should be resolved at the sending server.

1. Open Thunderbird Mail. From the Tools menu select Account Settings. The Account Settings box appears.

2. In the white area on the left, select the entry Outgoing Server (SMTP). The Outgoing Server (SMTP) Settings appear on the right.

3. In the “Server Name” box the entry should be smtp.gn.apc.org

4. Verify that the Use name and password box is ticked. Click on the box to tick it, if it is not ticked.

Enabling SMTP authentication

1. Open Outlook Express or Outlook 98/2000.

2. From the Tools menu select Accounts. The Internet Accounts box appears.

3. Select the Mail tab. Your email account appears, usually labelled gn.apc.org.

4. Click on the account yourname@gn.apc.org and click the Properties button on the right. The yourname@gn.apc.org properties appear.

1. Open MAIL.

2. From the MAIL menu, select Preferences. Select the Accounts icon and click on your email account under the Description heading. Click on the Edit button on the right. The Account Information appears.

1. Open Entourage.

2. From the Tools menu, select Accounts.

3. Click once on the name of the account you wish to edit. This will highlight the account.

4. Click on the Edit button at the top of the Accounts window. DO NOT click on the edit menu at the very top of the screen.

5. In the Account Settings tab at the bottom of the Edit Account window, change the text to smtp.gn.apc.org in the SMTP server box.
