International Year of Cooperatives

International Year of Coops home page

In celebration of the UN's decision to make 2012 the International Year of Co-operatives, the International Cooperatives Association commissioned GreenNet and Wave to build and design a special site for the year. In the spirit of cooperation the site draws together content for republishing from stories.coop and thenews.coop.

Gyaan Yatra

Gyaan Yatra home

Gyaan Yatra is an initiative of the Asian Foundation for Philanthropy, designed to animate debate and understanding of development issues as a way of raising awareness. And as part of this work it also cultivates a group of development ambassadors, young people who are involved in AFP's development leadership scheme. Now translating all of that into requirements for the website meant coming up with a structure that could provide:

Woodcraft Folk

Woodcraft Folk news page

This ambitious project was set up to integrate the Woodcraft Folk's in-office membership administration system with their public facing website. The idea was to build a very modern system to underpin a site that supports Woodcraft kids, parents and office staff, without losing the special creative spirit and energy of the Folk that has endured since its inception nearly 100 years ago.

Association for Progressive Communications

APC website

The biggest challenge in designing the new site for the APC was in meeting the diversity of needs of its different audiences. The site needed to act as a one stop shop for: publicly accessible resources on open access to ICTs, a private members’ area for the diverse network of APC member organisations, and a virtual office intranet for the APC staff around the world.
This complex mix of audiences and content is presented in a clear and logical navigation with a raft of exciting features

European Social Forum 2004

European Social Forum 2004

After GreenNet won the tender process for this high profile project, we were given just 5 weeks to build a site that would work as the main administrative organ of this major event. We worked with ActionApps to build a system that could process secure payments for tickets and handle multilingual publication of content in five languages

Oxford Research Group Intranet

The Oxford Research Group’s intranet was designed to respond to the changing needs of the organisation as increasing numbers of staff began working from different locations.

Their requirement was to have an office intranet where shared files could easily be accessed, edited and stored by all staff regardless of location. They were unhappy with staff outside of the Oxford office (where their shared server was hosted), having to first download documents, work on them locally, and then upload them back to the server.
We developed an intranet for ORG that had a file store that they could experience as though it were on a locally networked server, regardless of location. So now all workers can open files in the file store, work on them and save them without going through the uploading and downloading process.

IWPR Intranet

After completing the IWPR public website, we turned our attention to developing a private site that could form a useful virtual office for the distributed team of writers, trainers and researchers who work for the organisation. The private workspace was built using Drupal, and includes a calendar and special file management system – developed specifically for this project, but now available to all Drupal-driven sites. The file store area allows for workers’ local files to be organised and shared in the folders of the Intranet using a ‘drag & drop’ method.

Institute of Employment Rights

The challenge in developing a new website for the Institute of Employment Rights, was to create something as functional as possible without making management too complex for the overstretched staff. IER’s new website now comes complete with an up to date schedule of events, lists all the latest publications, projects and provides a secure space to subscribe online.

Global Transparency Initiative

Global Transparency Initiative

The Global Transparency Initiative (GTI) is a network of civil society organisations promoting openness in the International Financial Institutions (IFIs), such as the World Bank, the IMF, the European Investment Bank and Regional Development Banks. The GTI brings together two communities of activists and experts from around the world – one, those groups campaigning for full accountability in the use of public power vested in the IFIs; the other, groups that have been campaigning for the right to access to information at the nation-state level. We developed GTI’s website using ActionApps dynamic content and content sharing technology. The finished site includes a calendar and extensive database of resources and organisations.

Fair Trade Foundation Calendar

With the rising profile of the annual Fair Trade fortnight, in 2006 the Fair Trade Foundation commissioned GN to add an interactive calendar to list events, and make it easy for users to find events in their area. They wanted something quick and inexpensive, and at the same time needed it to integrate seamlessly with their site. The ActionApps CMS provided an ideal solution as it’s designed to enable dynamic elements to be added onto any website.
We created the custom fields required for their events listing, and then used an interactive UK map as the interface for users to select their region.
