Northern Friends Peace Board
"Peace is Growing"
One day events for Friends and Attenders to explore the process of transformation from a culture of violence to a culture of peace.
A culture of peace depends on a change in values, policies and practices. It will not come about overnight but will be fostered by many actions at many levels, by individuals, groups and organisations. It depends on cooperation, justice, sustainability and non-violent methods for dealing with conflict.
Each Peace is Growing day will include a combination of: input from speakers, and discussion and worship with other Friends and attenders. There will be a number of events between autumn 1998 and 2000 on different facets of the overall theme, taking place at various locations throughout Scotland, northern England and north Wales.
Friends will get together ....
To identify the issues and what needs to be done to bring about a change. To look what the implications of this understanding are for us as Quakers. To look at what we might contribute to the task of working for change. To consider how we can support and sustain ourselves and others in working for peace.
