CIA officials have confirmed "that between 30 and 50 people have been transported by extraordinary rendition", but this would have needed the active complicity of European governments. Statewatch have launched a new "Observatory" on the enquiries taking place into "rendition" and the use of European countries by the CIA for the transport and illegal detention of prisoners.
