Whipped Trident vote due 'early in 2007'

Ministers are expected to favour the most expensive Trident replacement in a December white paper, despite rebellion from Labour MPs. Meanwhile Hans Blix says Britain's modernising of Trident would 'strain' the NPT and encourage proliferation, but Peter Hain denies a free vote, apparently on the grounds of being "a serious government".
