The Emma Humphreys Memorial Prize (EHMP) is a commemorative prize awarded annually to a woman or group, who through their writing or campaigning, have raised awareness of violence against women and children. Emma Humphreys (30 October 1967-11July 1998) was a writer and campaigner whose struggle for justice and freedom inspired many. Emma’s case created a legal precedent that has helped many abused women as her successful appeal in 1995 led to a change in the law on provocation.
