Aung San Suu Kyi is Burma’s democracy leader. She has now been detained for more than 15 years. She isn’t allowed to see family or friends as all visitors are banned. Her phone line is cut and her post is intercepted. On June 19th 2010, Aung San Suu Kyi celebrated her 65th birthday alone, under house arrest.
“My release should not be looked at as a major breakthrough for democracy. For all people in Burma to enjoy basic freedom – that would be the major breakthrough.”
