Africa Programme Officers

Computer Aid International is seeking to appoint Africa Programme Officers based in our Nairobi office and servicing existing and potential new partners in francophone Africa.

Computer Aid International is an international development agency focused on ICT4D and has provided over 100,000 professionally refurbished computers to educational institutions and not-for-profit organisations in105 different countries. Computer Aid International is registered not-for-profit NGO founded in the UK with offices in Nairobi and Johannesburg.

The successful candidates will spend a minimum of 10 days each month travelling internationally in the region identifying and developing new partnerships with not-for-profit beneficiaries.

Skills Requirements:

Excellent communication skills and a broad experience of working in the not-for-profit sector are key requirements. A high level of spoken and written English and French is essential for the post . Proficiency in other languages used in West and Central Africa would be an advantage.

The successful candidate will be a proficient computer user and have an appreciation of the role of ICTs in social and economic development. Some marketing, PR and financial management skills would be desirable.

All essential skills will be assessed in recruitment processes during May 2008 for appointment in June 2008. The initial contract will be for 6 months – renewable based upon performance.
