For the third day in a row we can not send email via wemail. We can receive email only, when we try to send, we get an error each time.
I have left 3 messages on supports answer machine and have phoned dozens of times to get the same msg that greennet are in a staff meeting.
Is this error a widesread problem or is it just us?
Frustrating as it is happening in the build up to a huge direct action against armsdelaers in london this week!

Re: Why can't we send emails?
Dear Paul
Apologies for the problems in sending from the webmail system over the weekend. This has now been resolved, and was caused by an update of the PHP software.

Re: Why can't we send emails?
I am new to all this! I have 2 email address, 1 I can receive and reply to emails, the other I can only receive. The I get an error report. If I am on a web site and click on a pcture to look at, I then get a 'send error report' msg. If I send an error report nothing happens. What is wrong. Please help.

Re: Why can't we send emails?
The 'send error report' function is Windows XP's way of dealing with an exception (crash in a program, possibly the picture viewer that's linked to the browser?). Try saving the picture, and then opening it from the hard disk to try to identify the problem. You may need on-site technical help or a computer shop.
Sending emails when you can receive is usually a fault in your settings. If you get a 554 error (translated by Outlook into Error 0x800ccc79), then it will usually help (and does with GreenNet) to turn on "SMTP password authentication". It's always useful to quote the exact error message if you can.

W e are having problem sending e-mails .We canget them but can't reply or send anything out . What could the troble be?
Re: Why can't we send emails?
I'm assuming you're not a GN member, but if you are please contact us. The usual problem in the case of being able to receive but not send is:
(a) having the wrong outgoing mail server set on your email program (ours is smtp.greennet.org.uk)
(b) not authenticating properly (for GN, turn on authentication with your usual password) - if this is the problem it will usually give '554 relaying denied' errors.
(c) A badly configured firewall at your end.
(d) Just an incorrect email address in one of your outgoing mails (move it to the draft folder).
The error message would help discriminate between these different causes.

Re: Why can't we send emails?
Hiya, I have lost my whole e-mail page for about two weeks. I can not figure out what the problem is. I downloaded a picture from a meeting I had attended and it was a group of people with all different e-mails. I had never replied to a whole group and when I did my"reply all" everything just vanished. So you are not on your own. Carol
Re: Why can't we send emails?
Hi Carol
You don't seem to be a GreenNet member.
If all email suddenly disappears in GreenNet webmail, the best thing is simply to log out and log in again. We can also restore up to 7 days of email if you have deleted it by accident.

can u tell me how to solve this problem.

Re: unable compose/reply
If you have a problem opening a compose window in GreenNet webmail (or any other webmail system for that matter), the most likely cause is software designed to block pop-up advertisements.
Pop-up blockers come with Windows XP SP2, the Google toolbar, and various other software. The most usual cause of confusion is SP2, which produces a pale yellow bar at the top of the web page with a 'click for options' message. If you click you should set it to allow the pop-up.
One of the simplest pop-up blockers is something called popdown.exe, which at least makes a noise when you try to open a pop-up.
