Re: unable to login

Hi Chan Yu

This is due to our mail server upgrade on Sunday 8 May. The new 'POP' software (Dovecot) requires the name of the mailbox as the username, and not the full email address.

So please log in with 'chanyu' as username, and your usual password. Thanks.

Re: unable to login- Again

Hi, thanks for your reply. Actually I did what you instructed in May and succeeded. The only problem is that then my default identity changed automatically (i.e. username@gn.apc.org), not the same as I used to have.
Since there was no problem receiving mails addressed to previous email address and though it apprarently indicated as a new id. in my outgoing mails. At least, I can use it.

After three months with the above change, the login system defeated me again. Now, I was not able to login although I only typed the username. Then I've tried typing the full addresses (both the old one and the new one) without success. Pls. advise. to helping me regain access to webmail account. Thank you very much.

Re: unable to login- Again

Hi, Chanyu.

‘Identity’ means the name and email address which recipients see on emails you send using Webmail. You can change the default identity by logging into Webmail, then going to Options, and ‘Personal Information’. You can also create multiple identities in this way for e.g. different roles.

Please continue typing only the bit before the ‘@’ sign. It looks like there was also a problem with the password you were typing and that you have since been able to log in.

Re: unable to login

It seems Im not the only one having problems since the upgrade.
I havent changed our password, and our box isn't overflowing and
Ive typed in the two variat ions of our user name.

All to no avail and no apparent action on GN's part.

Bloody frustrating if youre trying to edit an international website
at the same time, with webmail as the only access point, and with
your only recourse, while on the move, being to cybercafes in a country which is as hot as Greenet unfortunately seems not to be..

RM,

Re: unable to login

Hi RM

I'm sorry that you felt that GreenNet didn't respond, but your original problem was answered within 6 hours of our receiving an email request from you.

Your mail box (partizan by the way, partizans is an alias) was very full, 64Mb, and this is what has exacerbated things in your case. We did in fact alert everyone in advance to cut down the amount of mail in their mailboxes before the new mail server was installed last weekend.

We have now saved all your mail before May 2005 in a separate location, and left just this month's mail in the partizan mailbox, making it a manageable size.

You should have no problem with webmail now.

If you want to access mail prior to May, send an email to us at Support, and we'll make it available to you.

I hope all is satisfactory for you now.
