Red Hat Linux 9 is very good as a work desktop. It's very stable and doesn't slow down over a period of months unlike most version of Windows (2K and XP).
Very easy to install as well.

Re: Operating Systems
BLAG is one cdrom version of Red Hat which I think will suit Greennet Users more.
http://blagblagblag.org
I myself use Mandrake:
http://mandrake.com
but a verys easy to install desktop distro is Ark:
http://arklinux.org
See: http://distrowatch.com
for more on GNU/Linux distros.
Often on can get cdrom on covers of Linux magazines.
or mail order from:

Re: Operating Systems
There are probably places to download an illegal copy; rather easier would be borrowing from someone with Win98SE. Note that if you have a c:\windows\options\cabs directory, it will contain most of the contents of the CD, and you can uninstall components and reinstall from there.

Re: Operating Systems
If not already resolved and you have your product key and the invoice to prove you bought it then I think Microsoft should be able to send you a copy of W98SE unless it is an OEM version in which case your supplier would be expected to sort this out for you. There is no need to obtain an illegal copy or copy from a CD that is not yours which would make the O/S illegal for use. Perhaps you could learn from this and take a back up of the Operating System and software application software.
