Can one install phpBB bulletin board / forum free of charge, or does Green Net offer a free bulletin board / forum? Alternatively, can anyone recommend a good bulletin board / forum?
Thanks in advance

Re: Free Bulletin Board (Forum)?
We are currently trialling this board - using phorum another php bulletin board program similar to phpBB - and hope to offer this as a service shortly.
It is possible to have your own installation of phpBB but requires setting up a MySQL database for which we currently charge £50+VAT (57.50 inc VAT as at 1 Dec 2008). There may also be a small set up fee depending how much work our technicians need to do to get the software installed and working for you.
Re: Free Bulletin Board (Forum)?
We have now decided to offer phorum as a regular service. It's a low-cost message board plugin for your web sites. More information and examples can be found here: Services in the section ...more about Web Hosting

W-Agora
Well, a bulletin board is included in Drupal or any ‘grow your own’ site, and we provide support for Phorum at £58.75 per year, but quite a nice one is W-Agora. http://www.w-agora.net/ We don’t provide extensive support for W-Agora, but it runs well on GreenNet servers.
PhPBB
If you’ve got your own site, by that I mean not a CMS, PhpBB is the way to go. It’s free, and it comes with easy to follow instructions on how to set it up.
Most popular
Sure, phpBB (free) and vBulletin (non-free) are two of the most popular bulletin boards, and of course many GreenNet members are happily using one of these after installing it themselves.
(W-Agora is just a lighter, free alternative, and includes the ability to run several separate forums with different databases using the same installation. It doesn’t seem to be actively maintained, but version 4.2.1 fixes known security holes.)
