Outlook Express
How to Set Up Outlook Express 5.0-6.0 to Send and Receive Email
1. Open Outlook Express.
2. From the Tools menu, choose Accounts.
(If you have never configured or used Outlook Express before then the Internet Connection Wizard should open automatically - if it does, please go directly to step 5.
3. Click the Add button and choose Mail.
4. In the Display name field, type your name as you wish it to be displayed.
5. Click the Next button.
6. In the E-mail address field, type your full GreenNet email address (e.g., user@gn.apc.org).
7. Click the Next button.
8. On the next screen in the My incoming mail field, choose POP3.
9. In the next field, Incoming mail server, type be pop.gn.apc.org
10. In the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server field, type smtp.gn.apc.org
11. Click the Next button.
12. In the Account name field, type your email address without the @gn.apc.org (eg. user)
13. In the Password field, type your email password.
14. Check the box next to Remember password if you wish to save your password.
15. Click the Next button.
16. Click the Finish button.
17. Double-click your account in the Mail Accounts list.
18. Click on the Servers tab.
19. Check the box next to My server requires authentication.
20. Click the Settings button.
21. Select Log on using.
22. In the Account Name field, type your GreenNet email address
23. In the Password field, type your password.
24. Check the box next to Remember password.
25. Click the OK button.
(when you have problems connecting with another internet [broadband] provider, you can choose the Advance tab in order to change the port number - outgoing port will be probably port 25; you can try and change it to 2525; if that doesn't work either, you need to contact your current Internet Connection Provider to get their mail server settings)
