CND Declares Peace in Space

(even without the ABM Treaty)
ON THURSDAY 13 JUNE 2002
the ABM treaty dies and from that point onwards the USA can request use of bases in the UK for their star wars system.
NOW is the time to take action!

Press Conference in London

In the House of Commons on Thursday morning chaired by Alan Simpson MP, with input from Ann Cryer MP, Carol Naughton & Bruce Kent (others have been invited but not yet confirmed). The Missile Defence Working Group (of which CND is a member) will launch it briefing paper '10 Reasons to Oppose British Involvement in a US Strategic Missile Defence System' at this press conference.

Public Meeting in Whitby:

ON SATURDAY JUNE 15th
A National Demonstration:

"Party on the Moor"

- at Ellerbeck near RAF Fylingdales,
with music, speakers, food, games and a march to the entrance of the base to hand in a statement of objection

Transport to arrive at Eller Beck at noon.
Events will start from around 12.15am
The event will close at 4.30pm

A small group will be walking from Whitby to join the party and there will be a march to the base


This event is jointly organised by Yorkshire CND, Fylingdales Action Network and National CND

This is the first demonstration against missile defence after the ABM treaty's death.  We want it to be the biggest Fylingdales demo yet.
