Filtering Spam with Thunderbird

The following instructions are for Mozilla Thunderbird.

  1. Click on Tools, Message Filters…. This will bring up a window called Message Filters.
  2. Select your GreenNet account in Filters for.
  3. Click on the New… button. This will bring up a window called Filter Rules.
  4. In Filter Name type GreenNet Anti Spam filter.
  5. Select Match any of the following.
  6. In the first drop-down list select Customize…. This will bring up a window called Customize Headers.
  7. Enter X-Spam-Level under New message header: and press the Add button. You should have X-Spam-Level in the list below now.

Membership packages at a glance

GreenNet’s subscriptions are organised into packages of services. We have put them together according to the most common needs of our users. Each package has a number of optional extras, such as extra web space, mailboxes or broadband connection. Click on the package name to see more details. Setting up Kmail

Kmail is an email client that comes as part of the KDE desktop environment on Linux, in for example Kubuntu. There are a few default options on kmail that should be changed.

Scam email Saturday 19 July

If you have received an email this morning claiming to be from “gn.apc.org System Team” (Admin), please just delete it and do not attempt to reply or forward it. We are aware of this “ phishing “ scam and are taking appropriate action with other ISPs/institutions. We generally mark such fraudulent emails as spam, but unfortunately this one slipped through. Needless to say, we never ask for passwords via email.

In order to provide additional security when you use email, we intend to enable a feature called “secure SMTP“ from Tuesday, 10 October 2006. Most people will not notice any difference.
