Video Citizen Journalist Training in 2009-2010 Would you like to join a network of motivated people filming their own news? This is a network which aims to provide an independent and alternative viewpoint to traditional news organisations. visionOntv and Undercurrents are teaming up to seek people to join a 'Citizen Journalists Network'. In 2010 we are expanding our training to nurture a UK-wide network of people will be encouraged to support their local community and campaign groups by producing regular video clips about local positive news to be spread as widely as possible, as well as through the visionOntv network. We will show you how to find and produce a short news report about grassroots life within your own community, including activist events. Throughout 2009-2010 we will be seeking to find people around the UK who will put their camcorder to good use. If you would like to become a citizen video journalist, contact us by filling in this form and we will keep you informed of our training workshops. visionOntv Workshops Our training programme grew from the work of undercurrents and is bold and unique. We have taken away the obstacles to making effective films by radically simplifying the whole process. You might be like me – always taking lots of video of actions, which I will edit some day, I really will. Or you might have no training at all in making films, but you've got a stills camera or a video camera. You shot your Mum’s birthday party, but when you showed it to her, she became strangely busy halfway through. Or you might have a video-taking mobile phone, and would like to post stuff on youtube if only your dog would do something hilarious. Or you haven't even got a camera – don't worry, the world of effective activist TV can still be yours! Cost: Donation for the opening of the space Places are limited - to apply, fill in the application form.
