Founded back in 1986 by Carlo Petrini, theSlow Food movement has been at the forefront of the struggle against the industrialisation of food. It has campaigned for sustainable and local food production and has framed food as a crucial cultural heritage that should not be ravaged by the homogenising tendencies of globalisation. This talk will look at the culture of the movement, with its emphasis on authenticity, and asks if it is itself sustainable.
