With Meg Hillier MP, Martyn Williams (Energy Bill Revolution) and Hanna Thomas (East London Green Jobs Alliance).

This winter millions of people will have struggled to pay their energy bills. Yet energy prices continue to go up, along with carbon emissions. And in spite of this the coalition government wants to keep us hooked on the same costly and polluting fossil fuels that are causing the problem.

By switching to green energy and insulating our homes, we could have energy we can all afford. Please join us on 27 February at 7.00pm to find out what we can do about the energy crisis.

We'll be hearing from our local MP Meg Hillier and finding out if she will back clean power, warm homes, and lower bills in Parliament.

The Energy Bill is being discussed right now, so there has never been a better time to get together to talk about energy.

Since 2001, the civil liberties of British citizens have been progressively eroded. Among other examples, the Extradition Act (2003) allows individuals to be extradited to another country for actions that are not criminal in the UK, and without prima facie evidence of a case against them being presented in a British court. This Act can result in long periods of detention without charge (British citizens have been detained for up to eight years).
