The key speaker will be Gerard Horton from DCI-P who will report on the findings of their latest EU-funded DCI-P report into the arrest, detention and treatment of Palestinian children by the Israeli authorities.

Betty Hunter (Honorary President, PSC) and Kevin Courtney (DGS, NUT) will speak at the meeting which will be chaired by Geoffrey Bindman of Bindman's Solicitors.

The meeting will take place on Wednesday 18th April at NUT HQ, Hamilton House, Mabledon Place, WC1H 9BD, 6-8.30pm.

Farewell to Justice? The progressive loss of Civil Liberties in the UK

Since 2001, the civil liberties of British citizens have been progressively eroded. Among other examples, the Extradition Act (2003) allows individuals to be extradited to another country for actions that are not criminal in the UK, and without prima facie evidence of a case against them being presented in a British court. This Act can result in long periods of detention without charge (British citizens have been detained for up to eight years).
