This year ActionAid celebrates 40 years of working with people to fight for their rights, campaign against injustice and inequality and tackle the causes of poverty.

We’re inviting you to a special birthday event to hear from people from all over the world about ActionAid’s work – from fighting the causes of hunger to cracking down on tax dodging. We’ll also be answering some of the big questions, how does ActionAid work on the ground, what’s the future of development, and how can we ensure food crises become a thing of the past?

You’ll have the chance to learn new campaigning skills, share ideas and get your questions answered. Spaces are limited so make sure to book your place straight away.

Farewell to Justice? The progressive loss of Civil Liberties in the UK

Since 2001, the civil liberties of British citizens have been progressively eroded. Among other examples, the Extradition Act (2003) allows individuals to be extradited to another country for actions that are not criminal in the UK, and without prima facie evidence of a case against them being presented in a British court. This Act can result in long periods of detention without charge (British citizens have been detained for up to eight years).
