Campaign against GCC Public Entertainment License Meeting
18 Feb 12

As of 1st April 2012, Glasgow City Council will be changing their 'Entertainments' License, to include all free events, including Exhibitions.
After this date, all proposed public exhibitions, regardless of scale, will need to submit a tedious application along with a hefty fee, 6 weeks prior to the date, as well as public notification, 6 sets of lay out plans, and will involve consultation with Strathclyde police, Strathclyde Fire Brigade, Building Control, Environmental Health, local councillors, local community councils, and local area management committees.

Global Stories: Treasures of our Humanity - KS2&3 For 12 participants only

Stories can be used in a wealth of imaginative ways to support children’s learning. They offer endless possibilities for developing literacy skills, for taking children beyond their immediate experiences and for helping them to make sense of the world around them.

In this training day run by a professional storyteller, participants will:
• learn practical ways to use storytelling in class to enhance literacy and explore values.
• be introduced to a bank of global stories from which to select for use with your own class.
• develop confidence and skill as a storyteller.

At Tower Hamlets Professional Development Centre, English Street, London E3 4TA

The practical session will involve creating your own animation using your own story based a global issue. You will learn how to plan and build stories and characters, by the end; you will have produce and edit the final animation.

How Global is Your School? - ALL KS

A half day session to explore how you and your school can develop global learning.
Includes an audit to be carried out during the session.
Teachers will leave with resources and a next steps printout to be taken away to further develop global learning across the school.

Enquiry based learning in the classroom - KS2&3

This training day introduces teachers to a range of enquiry-based learning techniques including Philosophy for Children* (P4C), mysteries, using photographs, and Open Spaces for Dialogue and Enquiry (OSDE).

The day will include theory and rationale, but will focus on practical examples and hands on training, with plenty of materials to take away. The course will include activities ranging from connecting evidence from clues in a “mystery” to critical exploration of photographs as a stimulus to enhance visual literacy.
