Domain Registry of America Scam

Have you just received a letter in the post from ‘Domain Registry of America’ (DRoA), urging you to pay them for renewing your domain name? The paper, with a London address on the back, looks like a bill and tries to scare the reader with “Your registration will expire on May 10, 2005. Act today!”

Don’t worry about your domain, this is a scam!

Domain names

A domain name is a unique name that identifies you or your organisation on the Internet. It is registered in the form of yourname.co.uk or yourname.org.uk, yourname.net or yourname.com or yourname.org. You choose which form you prefer depending on the nature of your organisation or content. The domain can then be used for your e-mail adresses e.g username@yourname.org.uk and web site URLs e.g www.yourname.org.uk depending on the package you have chosen.
All of our web hosting options (except Home/Activist membership, which includes a .gn.apc.org subdomain) come with a domain name registration and include annual renewal.
